Moving mountains, pushing weight, thats what all thletes want to do.  It's not about having the biggest arms but making the weight move around while being explosive.  The most explosive athletes can move weight the fastest.  Specific drills that relate to your sport, along with proper muscle strength rations keep the body healthy and able to perform at it's optimal level.  This creates strength that correlates with your sport.  The time you put in the weight room can build all aspects of your game when the right exercises are done.
